PPG to gain Boeing approval for 'green chromate-free aircraft primer

US PPG expects to gain approval for its new chromate-free primer from US airframer Boeing this year.The new "green" exterior aircraft painting system developed by PPG's aerospace coatings business has shown corrosion resistance comparable to processes that use chromated pretreatments and primers, according to PPG. The new system is also easier to apply than for alternative environmentally responsible systems, says PPG.
