Genel Energy is gearing up to spud the Hagar Qim-1 exploration well offshore Malta. Partner Mediterranean Oil & Gas said the semisubmersible drilling Paul Romano is on its way to Block 7 of Area 4 to carry out the drilling operations. Genel's wholly owned subsidiary Phoenicia Energy took the semisubmersible under contract on 18 May.
