US-company BioTech Products has been granted a US patent for an additive technology that enables certain plasticised PVC sheet materials to be 100% degraded in the oxygen-free environment of a suitably managed landfill site.The company's patent covers the use of a pro-degradant additive package comprised of an organotitanate or zirconate compound in combination with an organotin catalyst,which is claimed to act syner-gistically to initiate degradation of PVC plasticised with a degradable aliphatic or aromatic ester plasticiser.
