MEDICAL US moulder Plas-Tech is now using Medalist elastomers from Teknor Apex as an alternative to conventional materials for a range of single-use syringes (also see p33). Plas-Tech is using the material instead of thermoset rubber for the plunger tips or seals that prevent drugs in the tube from flowing backward as the plunger is depressed.
