摘要

Hypersexual disorder (HD) was proposed as a new and distinct sexual disorder to be included in the recently published fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) [1]. This proposition reflected the growing number of men seeking help for their out-of-control sexual impulses, fantasies, or behavior aimed at normal sexual stimuli or partners. The adverse consequences of this behavior often include marital discord, sexually transmitted diseases, financial problems, and job loss. The DSM-5 criteria capture different symptoms of an intense preoccupation with sexual stimuli leading to significant distress and impairment in various important areas of functioning. These behaviors must persist for a period of at least 6 mo and typically occur in response to stressful life events or dysphoric mood states. In addition, patients usually report unsuccessful attempts to control or diminish their sexual preoccupation.
