Etanercept in infants: suberythrodermic, recalcitrant psoriasis in a 22 month-old child successfully treated with etanercept.

The therapy of psoriasis in childhood can present great difficulties [1, 2]. The efficacy and safety of etanercept in childhood was recently verified in three clinical cases, but there have been no clinical studies conducted on infants; in fact, the youngest patient in the three clinical cases reported in the medical literature was six years old [3-5]. In this respect, we describe the case of a 22 month.old child affected by severe psoriasis and unresponsive to conventional therapy, who was subsequently treated with etanercept.
