General context:The provisions of Regulation (EEC) No. 1408/71 of 14 June 1971 for coordination of national social security legislations fall within the framework of freedom of movement for workers who are nationals of Member States and should contribute towards the improvement of their standard of living and conditions of employment. This freedom of movement for persons is one of the cornerstones of the Community.
