The economic crisis and high unemployment figures have dominated headlines in Spain over recent years. As spending power has reduced, there has been a trend towards own brand products in many consumer goods sectors and cosmetics have not been immune to that trend. In a recent Grayling survey, 64% of those who took part admitted to regularly buying own brand cosmetics and personal hygiene products. Indeed it is the third most popular category after food and cleaning products. In total, almost nine out often Spaniards purchase these products, mainly due to the price difference - it was the case for 93% of those who took part in the survey.
