The French hands and nails market had been showing off a highly polished performance for several years - until 2013 came along. Last year proved to be turning point in a market that, it had previously seemed, could do no wrong. Sales started to fray at the edges during the first half, and the latest data from IRI France for the year to 28 September 2014 reveals that the boom is well and truly over. During this period sales of hand and nail products through supermarkets and hypermarkets totalled ?100.29m, a decline of 3.9% compared with the previous year. Volume figures looked decidedly off-colour too, falling by 2.8% to 20.94m units.
