摘要

The study by Ng et al. (2013) reveals what the authors call a surprising lack of differences in beliefs held about whiplash injury, between an Internet sample of adult respondents in Australia and in Singapore. The authors described in detail the many limitations to the approach taken, mainly related to Internet research and sampling, but they were still motivated to conduct the study by the underlying assumption that Singapore and Australia have very different prevalences of chronic whiplash-associated disorder (WAD). That is, studies conducted 2-3 decades ago in Singapore had provided limited evidence that the prevalence of chronic WAD in Singapore was very low compared to, say, Australia (Balla, 1982; Maguire, 1993).
