Ukraine’s state-run Naftogaz Ukrainy has reportedly borrowed US$550mn in a one-year loan from the banking unit of Russia’s Gazprom to pay for Russian gas imports in October 2011. The fg- ure was reported by Ukrainian news website Ekonomichna Pravda, which cited a government source as well as purportedly leaked letters between the two companies regarding the loan.
