Impact on bats

In Hulme v Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government [2010] All ER (D) 95 one ground of objection to a wind farm development was the impact on bats. A defendant in this case (RES) applied for planning permission for the construction of nine three-bladed horizontal axis wind turbines, together with associated infrastructure including: electricity transformers; access tracks; crane hardstandings; a control building; a sub-station; a meteorlogical mast; and a temporary construction compound. This was to be built on land to the south east of North Tawton and south west of Bow near Crediton in Devon.
