Imperial Petroleum, E-Biofuels Hit with Biodiesel-Fraud ‘Notice of Violations’

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced December 18 “notices of violations” (NOVs) against Indiana-based companies Imperial Petroleum and e-Biofuels for allegedly fraudulent sales of biodiesel “renewable identification number” (RIN) trading credits. “Based upon the information available to the EPA as a result of its investigation, the EPA has determined that from at least July 1, 2010, through June 2, 2011, all of the RINs generated by e-Biofuels – 33,573,595 RINS with a D-Code of 4 – are invalid,” according to the EPA.
