Netherlands-based Empyro BV announced February 8 the construction of its first biomass-to-liquids (BTL) plant employing pyrolysis technology. The resulting py-oil will replace 12 million cubic meters per year of natural gas in an electric power plant adjacent to an AkzoNobel facility at Hengelo, Netherlands.
