Keeping cool: global warming will increase sales of smaller air conditioning systems to cool in the summer and dehumidify in winter

Although planet-wide changes in temperature are usually measured in millennia rather than centuries, there is now a growing consensus that thee is a definite upward trend in global temperatures. And while there are also arguments about the underlying causes of this increase, most accept that it is due to emissions of greenhouse gases, mostly CO{sub}2, resulting from burning fossil fuels to provide energy. Global warming will in theory bring warmer summers and windier, wetter winters to the UK, wnich will in turn lead to growing demand for small scale air conditioning systems in homes, pubs and smaller shops and offices, places that in this country where until now it has largely been accepted do not require comfort cooling.
