Most of the cable manufacturers in the UK are now Basec approved. But, at the bottom end of the market, you still see grotty cables marked 'BS 6004'. They make the claim that they comply with this standard, but nobody is actually checking them. They may or may not comply. In the UK, it is fairly well controlled and Basec cables are generally specified by installers. But on a fairly regular basis, we hear of circumstances where the cable is found to be non-compliant by an installer.
