Bladder rupture in the mature horse: Diagnostic techniques

Diagnosis of rupture of the bladder in mature horses continues to be a challenge for the equine veterinarian. In recent clinical reports of horses with rupture of the bladder early diagnosis remains elusive, with many cases not being definitively identified until 5 or more days post partum. This clinical commentary expands on the diagnostic options available to facilitate rapid identification and subsequent treatment of these horses.
