A field study was conducted during rabi of 2006-07 to evaluate the effect of different irrigation regimes and nutrient combinations on root yield of carrot and water productivity in the presence and absence of FYM. The experiment consisted of two levels of FYM (0 and 37.5 t/ha), three irrigation regimes (IW/PE 0.6, 0.9 and 1.2) and six nutrient combinations (N0K75, N30K75, N60K75, N90K75, N60K0 and N60K37.5 kg/ha) in a loamy sand soil. Application of FYM significantly improved the root yield. The IW/CPE 0.9 produced significantly higher carrot root yield as compared to other irrigation regimes. Water use efficiency (14.6 q/ha per cm) and water productivity (12.8 kg/m3) was maximum at IW/CPE 0.6. The crop responded significantly up to 90 kg N/ha but no discernible increase in carrot root yield was observed with, K application.
