摘要

Present study was aimed to assess the general combining ability effects of parents and specific combining ability effects of hybrids for grain yield and yield related traits in maize. The interaction of line x tester was highly significant for all thecharacters studied. The ratio of sca/gca variance revealed that there was preponderance of non additive gene action in the expression of all the traits under study. Among the lines. QPM-18 was found as the best general combiner for all the traits understudy followed by QPM-14 recorded positive and significant gca effects for most of the yield contributing traits. Considering the testers, S.C.B. 7853-1 was found as the best general combiner for most of the yield contributing traits. Among the hybrids,QPM-13 x Co (BC) 1, QPM-14x S.C.B. 7853-1 exhibited highest significant sea effects for single plant yield and other yield attributing traits.
