摘要

Diurnal variations of some abiotic parameters and plankton population in Mushahari Ox-bow lake was studied during spring, summer, monsoon and winter seasons of 2011. Phytoplankton showed increased number during day time. It was found that water temperature, pH, DO2 and HCO-3 increased during day time which decreased during night hours. The amount of free CO2 was also noticed higher during night hours. There were positive correlation between water temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen (DO2), bicarbonate (HCO-3) and a negative correlation with temperature and free CO2 in most cases. Thus it may be concluded that diurnal variation of abiotic parameters and biotic population in Mushahari ox-bow lake were governed by the result of interaction of various environmental factors. No single factor was responsible for the fluctuation of abiotic variations and plankton population in Mushahari ox-bow lake. Fluctuations of plankton might be result of interactions off abiotic parameters, fertility of water body and their consumption by fishes as food.
