Evaluation of Different Feed Sources on Feed Utilization, Growth and Apparent Digestibility of Common Carp Cyprinus Carplo Var Communis

The present study deals with the evaluation of different feed sources on feed utilization, growth and apparent digestibility of common carp Cyprinus carpio vat communis for a period of 42 days. Reference feed was prepared by the combination of fish meal, shrimp meal, soybean meal, groundnut oil cake, wheatflour, fish oil, sunflower oil, supplevite-mix, NaCl and sodium benzoate with a protein level of 40%. Five experimental feeds (1, 2, 3, 4 and 5) were prepared by replacing 15% of reference feed withfish meal, shrimp meal, groundnut oilcake, soybean meal and mixture of all. The results showed that the consumption of feed and protein was higher in Ex feed 3 (15% replacement with ground nut oil cake). The feed conversion efficiency, protein efficiency ratio, growth and percentage growth were higher in Ex feed 1 (15% replacement with fish meal). Gross and net growth efficiency were higher in Ex feed 1. Apparant dry matter digestibility and nutrient digestibility were higher in Ex feeds 3 and 1 respectively.
