Available nutrients and organic matter content in some soils of Rajouri viewed in the context of prevalent agricultural practices.

摘要

The analysis of the physico-chemical properties of the soils of Rajouri, lying in the intermediate zone of Jammu and Kashmir in India, has highlighted the importance of site specific fertilizer recommendations. Viewed in the context of prevalent agricultural practices, there appears to be a need to educate the farmers about the importance of adequate, timely and regular fertilization. There is also a strong need for adoption of proper fertilization schedules that must include the use of both macronutrient and micronutrient fertilizers in conjunction with organic manures to maintain and improve soil health.
