Serbia sells steel works to China's Hebei Iron & Steel Group

Europe- China's Hebei Iron & Steel Group (HBIS) has acquired a struggling steel works from the Serbian government for EUR46 million, according to Xinhua, China's official news agency. The company was the only bidder for Zelezara Smederevo mill, which was re-nationalized after United States Steel Corporation handed it back to the country in 2012. U. S. Steel had acquired the mill from Serbia in 2003.
