摘要

A thin slab mould presents unique challenges to the SEN manufacturer. The mould thicknesses are low, have buldges at the centre, can have LCR or no LCR and may be helped by EMBR. Possibility of turbulence and mould level fluctuation are unusually high during metal delivery to the thin slab mould. The metal delivery system should strive to lower these associated phenomena. As a result, the SEN has to ensure the following characteristics for maintaining proper castability: Mould clearances must be adequate to ensure that there is no phenomenon like bridging The SEN must ensure that the metal is distributed uniformly in these mould shapes through the ports The SEN seat and sleeve must be accurate to ensure steady metal supply (as per required casting speed) and high life.
