Tata BlueScope Steel to set up a metal coating facility in Jamshedpur

Tata BlueScope Steel, a 50:50 joint venture between Tata Steel and Australia-based BlueScope Steel, will invest Rs.880 crore in setting up a metal coating facility in Jamshedpur. The unit which will have the capacity of 250,000 tonnes is expected to go on stream by the third quarter of 2009-10, MD Mr. Chetan Tolia said. Of the total output, colour coated steel would constitute 150,000 tonnes and zinc aluminum coated steel will account for 100,000 tonnes. TATA BlueScope currently sources colour coated steel from the Thailand and Australian facilities of BlueScope.
