Siemens upgrades continuous annealing line

Swedish flat-steel producer SSAB EMEA has commissioned Siemens to upgrade the continuous annealing line at the production facility in Borlange with new automation and drive systems. A new migration strategy was being developed toallow existing user programs and the associated plant-specific data to be re-used. The migration strategy allows an automatically transferring of a series of plant functions with replacement of existing automation solution of a third-party supplier (1995). The basic automation is carried out with the support of programmable logical controllers (PLC) Simatic S7-400. The PCS 7 is used as the control system.
