Demag Technica supplies horizontal strip caster to Polish coin strip producer

Demag Technica, VeitshOchheim, has received an order from Walcownia Metali "Dziedzice" in Czechowice-Dziedzice, Poland, for the supply and commissioning of the horizontal strip caster No. 5. Commissioning is scheduled for spring 2001. Demag Technica is part of SMS Meer GmbH, which represents the Tube and Copper Plants Division of SMS Demag AG, Germany. Cold rollable strips of brass, bronze, nickel-silver, Nordic gold and other coin alloys in the format 420 X 15 mm will also be produced on the new continuous casting line. The plant has an in-line miller developed by Demag Technica. The continuous cast and milled strips will be directly further processed in a cold rolling mill. The major portion of the strips produced will be used for manufacture of coin blanks. Demag Technica has already built more than 100 plants of this type. With a total of more than 500 supplied casters for copper and copper alloys, the company is the world leader in this technology.
