This week marks the 40th anniversary of the beginning of that embargo. It also should serve to remind oil market participants and the world in general of the many changes that have taken place over the last four decades. The action of those Arab oil producers defined the "oil weapon," and with it other terms that have come to pervade oil market discussions: energy security, oil independence and oil price shock.
