Japan’s coke imports fall in January

Japan’s imports of fuel grade petroleum coke in January fell 10.6pc to 364,083mt from a year earlier, and were down 18.2pc from the previous month, according to the financial ministry. Requirements from the country’s petrochemical sector, a major source of coke demand, has weakened, which pushed ethylene output down in December – when most cargoes that arrived in January were traded.
