Turkish receipts of Australian coking coal rose to 2.5mn t last year from 518,000t in 2014, but imports from the US fell by 57pc to 1.8mn t, statistics body Tuik’s data show. Australia’s share of exports to the country increased by 38 percentage points last year to 47pc. The US’s fell to 33pc from 75pc in 2014. Declining Australian coking coal prices and freight rates to Turkey last year led to Australian suppliers taking a large slice of the US’s share.
