Major Chinese coal producers Shenhua and China Coal Energy cut production costs last year, mitigating the impact of falling margins and a decline in sales. State-controlled Shenhua, China’s largest producer, cut unit production costs by 3.3pc to 132 yuan/t ($21.27/t) last year from Yn136.5/t in 2013. China Coal Energy cut its unit costs by 6.6pc or Yn22.38/t to Yn319.15/t in the same comparison.
