Sail plans 3mn t/yr steel plant in Telangana

State-controlled Steel Authority of India (Sail) has completed a feasibility study for a new 3mn t/yr integrated steel plant in the south Indian state of Telangana. Sail has submitted the study to the federal and state governments after completing technical and economic evalu- ations of the project and inspecting the proposed site. The plant is earmarked for the Khammam district that contains the Bayyaram iron ore deposits. Telangana’s chief minister KC Rao and federal steel minister Narendra Tomar decided to set up a panel to make a fnal call on the feasibility and operational details of Sail’s plans and submit a report in 60 days.
