China's leaders could face a political backlash this year from the lingering impact of the current severe freak snow storm that has caused widespread disruptions to fuel,power and food supplies across a large part of the central and southern regions.Worried about the political fall-out,Beijing has appointed Premier Wen Jiabao to take charge of relief efforts following weeks of harsh wintry conditions that have claimed more than 60 lives and wreaked havoc in 17 of the country's 31 provinces.
