In this often unforgiving environment, electrical industry professionals rightly demand comfort when they're on the job. Yet too often the result is a compromise to safety, with inadequate clothing leaving workers exposed to serious arc flash injury. Whilst the debate continues there is little doubt that the plain cotton garments being used across much of the industry do support combustion and are leaving workers dangerously exposed. Nonetheless the industry has accepted tradeoffs by opting for clothing which reduces heat stress, increases wickability, and provides the highest level of wearer comfort. Traditionally it has been these requirements, along with perceived value for money, that have been the decisive factors on what clothing is issued.
