Turkey allows cements to burn Tupras coke

The Turkish government has granted permission for the coun- try’s cement makers to source petroleum coke from local re- finer Tupras, overturning previous legislation that had banned the use of Tupras material domestically. Tupras’ approximately 60,000 t/month of 7.5pc sulphur petroleum coke can now be sold to local plants, following a previous environmental ban because of the material’s high sulphur content, the refiner said.
