China exported nearly as much petroleum coke as it imported in May, with its exports the second highest on record as Indian buyers’ demand increased. The country exported 312,700t of coke in May. China has only exported more than 300,000t of coke two other times, in May and September of 2011. May’s shipments of higher-sulphur green coke to India, at 72,700t, were the largest on record for a single country in monthly customs data going back to May 2010. The country took a total of 103,800t in the month, including lower-sulphur green and calcined coke.
