Prices refer to the second month of each quarter. See individual products for details. General Tax (VAT): From January 1987 onwards, VAT applies to fuels used for household consumption. VAT is not included in prices and taxes shown for industry, electricity generation and automotive diesel for commercial purposes because it is refunded. From 2 March 1993 onwards, ex-refinery prices are set by each refinery, public or private, based on international prices. Selling prices are fixed by the marketers and dealers. Prior to 2 March 1993, oil products were subject to maximum ex-refinery prices plus a fixed amount for distribution costs.
