Embedded computational modules enable DSP solutions

Design engineers in such diverse fields as imaging, telecommunication's, and mass storage are turning to digital signal processing to enable or enhance a variety of advanced system features. While most engineers use specialised DSP processors for implementing DSP functions, they are also increasingly using traditional FPGAs for hardware-based math co-processors or sometimes as stand-aIone processing engines. This feature offers the proposition that configurable 'embedded computational units' are the optimum solution to the FPGA-DSP design problem.
