Forensics often involves fire scenes related to electrical faults in circuits or appliances but it can also revolve around people's safety, especially with white goods or other devices plugged into the normal supply. When considering safety we should be mindful that all of our work will be examined - even though installation methods and materials are designed from a safety point of view. And circuit protection is there to protect circuits rather than appliances. I have been involved in cases where appliances have had to be recalled. In a recent matter, it was a dishwasher.
