The study on effect of preceding legumes, crop residue management and nitrogen levels on production and efficincy of legume-sunflower cropping system was conducted. Maximum sunflower equivalent yield (16.15 percent more), system yield (55.87 per centmore), production efficiency (44.85 per cent more) and economic efficiency (9.14 per cent more) were recorded when sunflower was preceded by legume soybean as soybean - sunflower cropping system over preceding legume blackgram in blackgram - sunflower cropping system. This might be due to the higher yield of soybean and its price per quintal. Maximum sunflower equivalent yield, system yield, production efficiency and economic efficiency were recorded when incorporation of crop residues of preceding legumes than no incorporation. Nitrogen applied to rabi sunflower at 75 kg N ha~(-1) was recorded higher yield and efficiency but found at par with 50 kg N ha ‘. Effect of preceding legumes with its incorporation and nitrogen levels were showed significanteffect on sunflower equivalent yield, system yield, production efficiency and economic efficiency of sunflower and recorded maximum when sunflower was preceded by legume soybean with incorporation of its crop residue and application of 75 kg N ha~(-1) torabi sunflower but found at par with 50 kg N ha~(-1).
