Slovak Republic: Organic legal framework in place

Organic farming started in the Slovak Republic in 1991, and now accounts for nearly 50,000 hectares, which is about 2.4% of the country's total agricultural land. Nearly two thirds (65%) of Slovak organic land is meadows and pastures, 34% arable land, and 1% orchards and vineyards.
