This achievement was reported in Building Engineer in May this year as follows: 'Safe and Sound Lighting Ltd, after nine years of hard work, has won the Queen's Award for Enterprise 2006 in the category of Innovation with their internationally patented 'Snaplite'. Normally, down-lighters are fitted through holes cut into the ceiling thus creating a loss in fire resistance. Snaplite is considered to be the first recessed down-lighter with inbuilt fire and acoustic protection.
