KBR's stranglehold over the African gas market appears to be tightening even further, with the company now set to win the massive contract for the Angola LNG project as well as the FEED for Repsol's massive Gassi Touil project in Algeria. The FEEDs for the US 8 Bn Angola LNG project were awarded last year to the only two contractor groups remaining: Bechtel and a joint consortium of Kellogg Brown & Root/JGC and Technip. Senior sources now say that the KBR consortium will be selected with this likely to happen in October of this year. The grouping will perform engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities for the project.
