With the sudden steep decline in oil price and the dramatically increasing cost base over the last few years driven by shortages of people and equipment, the oil and gas industry has renewed its focus on supply chain management. The current focus on supply chain management is perhaps more sharply felt in the UK Continental Shelf - an area known as a high-cost oil and gas province in a country that ranks 21st in the "World Competitiveness Yearbook," beaten hands down by countries such as Denmark, Sweden, and the Netherlands.
