This book had already been published in three editions under the authorship of Leslie Gardiner. The first edition, published in 1983, was a pioneering work setting out for the first time a method of specifying building works which was accessible to and usable by the professional, the lay-person and the contractor. It provided an ordered basis for pricing works. The second edition, published in 1986, updated and improved on the original work and extended the contractual sections to include the then newly introduced Intermediate form of Contract.
