Executive Summary: A well-structured book written from the author's extensive experience as a Contracts Consultant dealing with problem resolution within the project life cycle through usage of letters as an effective communication medium. The intended targets are Architects and Project Managers with special reference to the main JCT 2005 building contracts; however, issues covered in some of the model letters can be tested for applicability in different contracts as they are generic from the communication and decision-making strategy point of view. The text is a welcome revision to the current knowledge base in procurement and contractual related issues in problem resolution. The fourth edition includes Project Managers, with extensive revisions to take Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration into account, not to mention the free CD accompanying the book. This book includes commentary for use with the main JCT 2005 building contracts. It concentrates on problems which can arise during a project, and is a companion to the author's Standard Letters in Architectural Practice which covers routine matters.
