SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES, THE TOUR DE FRANCE AND LE GRAND DEPART

When CICYH was asked to bring its annual conference forward to June to coincide and connect with the Tour de France (TDF) we decided to follow the route of the two Yorkshire stages using key checkpoints to show how necessary social and industrial reforms including construction have created sustainable communities. Stage 1 of the tour left the industrial and commercial centre of Leeds heading into the rural dales before reaching Ripon and finishing in Harrogate. Stage 2 left York skirting Bolton Abbey before heading via Wuthering Heights country to the Calder Valley and Hebden Bridge then onward to finish in Sheffield.
