Lord Morris of Manchester died on Sunday 12 August 2012 aged 84. Lord Morris had been a long-time supporter and friend of the ABE, having been awarded Honorary Fellowship in 2000. In a long and distinguished career Lord Morris began work at the age of 14 as a clerk in a local brewery; he then carried out national service in the army in the Middle East, completed his education at Oxford and Manchester and then became a teacher and university lecturer before entering politics.
