At the Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy, studies have been done to understand the behavior of coke in the blast furnace better. Experiments were conducted, as part of a multi-national project, in a hot metal bath with coke coming directly out of the coking plant and coke from tuyere level. This paper will discuss results from the perspective of cokemakers as well as iron and steelmakers.
