Distracting office noises - rather than the din of a building site - are seriously harming productivity for building and construction professionals, according to new research. Noisy colleagues and mobile phone rings are among the worst interruptions breaking workers' concentration says the survey by business technology manufacturer, Brother. Simultaneously, building and construction workers are increasingly heading home to embrace the benefits of homeworking. Fifty per cent of those questioned said they faced between five and 20 interruptions per day when working in the office, with almost a quarter (24 percent) complaining of more than 20 interruptions. Conversely, when working from home, the number suffering from five to 20 daily interruptions is halved to 21 percent while only one per cent experiences 20-plus disturbances.
